How we verify instructors
New Jersey does not maintain a public registry of firearms instructors. Our verification is our own. Before an instructor is listed, we confirm: (1) a current instructor credential from a recognized certifying organization, with the credential number on file; (2) that they personally administer the New Jersey CCARE qualification course; (3) a working phone number and a real teaching location. We re-check credentials annually. We are not a government agency and this listing is not a state endorsement.
What each check means
- A current credential. We confirm a live instructor credential from a recognized certifying organization and keep the credential number on file — either by checking the issuer's directory, reviewing a copy of the card, or confirming a police department that has accepted the instructor's qualifications.
- They run the CCARE qualification themselves. The listing is only useful if the person you reach is the person who administers the New Jersey qualification you need for a Permit to Carry.
- A working phone and a real place to train. A reachable number and an actual teaching location — not a mailbox.
What we are not
We are not a government agency, and a listing here is not a state endorsement. New Jersey does not certify or license firearms instructors, and we never claim otherwise. What we offer is an independent, vendor-neutral check that the person you're about to call is real, reachable, and qualified to run your course.
